AI image generation for business starts with a brief and ends with an asset checked in the place where it will be used. Between those stages come reference selection, composition, editing, visual-identity checks and export. An impressive standalone image can become unsuitable in a small card, on a mobile page or alongside a precise commercial message.
The objective is not to fill a page with images, but to explain the service and support reading. Context photographs, concept illustrations, technical diagrams and product images have different roles. The method follows what visitors need to understand and what the published material actually represents.
This guide uses a fictional example: a context visual for organising company documents. The original diagrams are built in code, not produced by an image generator. Authentic photographs illustrate colour selection and reviewing images. They depict neither a client, an AI interface nor a project delivered by WebHat.

When is an AI-generated image appropriate?
Choose between visual evidence and concept illustration
A synthetic visual can explain an idea, atmosphere or proposed scenario. When presenting actual premises, a person, a product for sale or completed work, the material must correspond to that subject. A realistic image must not suggest that it documents a place or outcome it does not depict.
Our example does not invent a client's office. We define a demonstrative space with neutral objects and documents without personal information. The page uses it for visual orientation, while the service explanation stays in text. When the purpose is to present an actual implementation, we use authorised project materials and describe them correctly.
Among the types of artificial intelligence, image generation and image analysis are different functions. A system's ability to produce a visual does not make it an independent verifier of the product depicted. The editorial role and usage criteria must be established before choosing the tool and writing instructions.
What belongs in an AI image brief?
Describe purpose, subject and observable constraints
The brief names the page, audience, message and available space. For the fictional visual, we request an orderly demonstrative desk, neutral documents and coherent light. We establish the area that can accommodate HTML text and elements that must not appear: unrelated brands, signatures, personal data, seals or interfaces that could look like a client's system.
An image brief defines purpose, not style alone
- Purpose
Context image for a document-organisation service.
- Subject
Demonstrative desk, data-free documents and neutral objects.
- Composition
Subject separated from the space reserved for HTML text.
- Constraints
No brands, identifiable people or invented client outcomes.
- Delivery
Variants checked in the real layout, with provenance retained.
OpenAI and Google image documentation recommend describing purpose, composition and visible details. In practice, the company's requirement becomes concrete criteria: subject placement, materials, light and negative space. We do not replace these with a long list of adjectives such as “premium” or “professional”, which do not specify what needs checking.
Mandatory requirements are separated from preferences. Keeping the headline area clear is an acceptance condition; a particular shade on a secondary object can be a preference. For AI use in marketing, this distinction helps a team compare variants against message and destination, not just first impressions.
The working record retains the brief and its approval date. If a campaign objective later changes, we do not treat the previous image as though it was designed for the new message. A variant approved for an explanatory article may need a different composition, description and renewed review before use in commercial material.
References have separately named roles: one can describe composition, another the palette, and another the authorised object to preserve. We do not ask for every detail from every input to be mixed together. In the desk example, a colour reference does not authorise copying a visible logo or change the final scene's demonstrative role on the page.
How is composition prepared for desktop and mobile?
The subject and text must remain readable in both shapes
A wide banner and a vertical card are not the same space. In the diagrams below, subject and text areas are reserved separately. These are not universal coordinates or final photographs. They show why the mobile version requires its own composition assessment, rather than merely reducing the wide image.

- Mobile · 4:5

We check the actual page frame, including margins, overlays and cropping applied by the display component. Empty space in the file can disappear during automatic thumbnail cropping. The essential element must remain recognisable on the homepage, archive, search and recommendations, not just when the image is opened at a large size.
Headlines and buttons remain page elements when they need to be read, translated and accessed. Integration into a business website allows text resizing and a functional link without relying on letters drawn into an image. A social asset containing embedded text receives a separate check at its final size.
How are tools and working variants selected?
Evaluate the output against the brief, not a model label
Required capabilities depend on the task: creating from scratch, editing an authorised original, using references or delivering a transparent background. Selection follows the features and conditions available for the configuration used. A recommendation in an older article is not automatically transferred to a service with another model, account or export limits.
A comparison retains the same brief and permitted inputs, then names settings that differ. We check subject, composition and constraints. A larger file or a higher-sounding setting does not replace inspecting the result in the actual layout. Relevant costs include rejected variants and the review required for delivery.
The guide to choosing an AI model for an application explains this approach to comparison. For generation mechanisms, the article on GANs and diffusion models separately addresses training and producing an image. In a company's visual workflow, the decision ends with an accepted deliverable, not a technical name.
How are edits controlled without losing the composition?
Name the change and the elements that must stay fixed
For the fictional example, we can request a change to the desk material while preserving document placement and the text area. This limits the intended intervention. After editing, however, we compare the complete image: a local change can accompany changes to perspective, light, object edges or details elsewhere in the frame.
Local editing separates the change from fixed elements
- Change
The desk surface material in the fictional example.
- Preserve
Object placement, perspective, lighting and text space.
- Compare
The complete image, not only the requested detail.
- Approve
The version meeting the brief and delivery criteria.
OpenAI's image guide explicitly separates what changes from what must be preserved. We retain versions and assess one bounded intervention before adding requirements. If the final variant follows several edits, we check the full sequence and final image against the brief; acceptance of an intermediate result does not automatically transfer.
For an actual object, geometry, labels and relevant details must be compared against the reference material. A written preservation requirement is not proof of perfect identity. When the objective is a simple, precise modification, we evaluate the appropriate editing method, including a conventional one, instead of needlessly regenerating the whole frame.

How is the company's visual identity preserved?
Establish reusable, verifiable references
An image set needs shared rules: palette, light, material appearance, density and framing. The reference is not a vague phrase such as “the same style”, but a file of authorised references and described characteristics. Every new image is compared against the set and its specific publication destination.
The official logo remains a separate, controlled asset. An accidental reinterpretation appearing in a visual is not accepted as the logo. For company visual identity, proportions, clear space and the approved file are preserved. Placement within a layout must stay readable and must not depend on an approximate version drawn by a generator.
Relationships between images are checked too. If every article uses the same synthetic desk, repetition can reduce readers' ability to distinguish subjects. We choose relevant variety in role and composition without treating a shade change as a new visual subject. Coherence does not mean multiplying the same scene across every card.
For the fictional set, a record retains approved elements and their use: document-related context visuals, not premises photography. Adding a variant involves checking this classification alongside appearance. A change of content owner then does not accidentally turn an illustration into a claim about the company's infrastructure or team.
What should be checked about rights and provenance?
Separate inputs, tool conditions and publication meaning
For each reference, we identify its source, usage rights and any conditions concerning people, brands or client materials. We also check the generation or editing service's terms in the version applicable to the project. A photograph being available online is not permission to upload and transform it for every purpose.
Three different records in the visual asset file
- Usage rights
Source, applicable terms and required permissions for inputs and use.
- Provenance
Original, versions, edits and available technical information.
- Editorial approval
What the image represents and how it is described publicly.
C2PA describes Content Credentials as a provenance and integrity mechanism, distinct from DRM usage controls. We retain the original and available editing information. A technical history does not by itself establish a commercial fact or replace checking rights. Equally, missing metadata in an export does not establish that an image is authentic or synthetic.
The asset record retains originals, approved versions, purpose and editorial description. A demonstrative illustration is identified accordingly when it could be mistaken for a photograph of an actual project. Confidential material also follows data protection rules for AI applications, including upload and storage routes.
How is an image checked before approval?
Inspect details and the meaning of the complete scene
OpenAI's generation documentation lists limitations involving text, consistency and composition control. We inspect lettering, edges, reflections, shadows and relationships between objects. Looking photorealistic from a distance is not enough. Details changing the service's meaning are acceptance criteria, not ornaments to ignore.
In the document example, an invented seal or an interface with seemingly real values can imply a nonexistent certification or result. Such elements are removed or corrected before publication. The image must match the page's explanation; alternative text and captions describe what it represents without claiming that people or premises belong to the company.
Evaluation has two dimensions: inspecting the file at an appropriate size and checking it in the final interface. Small text can look correct when zoomed in but become visual noise inside a card. Conversely, an edge defect may be hidden by a crop and reappear in another component displaying the complete image.
The review list records the observation and version, not just a vague approval verdict. If a shadow suggests incompatible light sources or a document contains meaningless lettering, we identify the area and requirement precisely. After correction, the rest of the frame is compared too, looking for changes that were not part of the requested intervention.
How are images prepared for SEO and performance?
Optimisation follows actual display space
Google Search Central recommends relevant context, useful descriptions and device-appropriate delivery. A new file receives a short, descriptive name without keyword stuffing. For an existing suitable asset, we reuse the same attachment and address rather than uploading a copy merely to change its filename.
From an approved file to a fast page
- Master
The approved version, retained separately from derivatives.
- Dimensions
Variants suited to actual display space.
- Compression
WebP when appropriate, visually checked after export.
- Integration
Declared dimensions, text alternatives and position-appropriate loading.
- Test
Desktop, mobile, cards and complete-page measurements.
We prepare responsive dimensions and reserve image space for layout stability. WebP compression is inspected after export, particularly on textures, edges and transparency. A drawn checkerboard is not an alpha channel. If transparency is required, the file is opened against different backgrounds, and the approved master is kept separate from derivatives.
The web.dev LCP guide advises against delaying the image responsible for this metric through lazy loading. Loading follows actual position, not an identical rule for every image. A complete-page check distinguishes the file's effect from fonts, scripts and other resources; the score is reported only after measurement.
What should the company receive at handover?
Handover includes approved files, required variants, the brief and provenance records. We name the permitted use of each asset and identify demonstrative elements. Homepage, thumbnail and social versions must be clearly labelled so that a team does not accidentally publish a rejected draft or an unsuitable export.
In a card containing an image, badge and title, we also check link destinations and keyboard access. The image should help identify the article, not introduce another commercial promise absent from its content. Its accessible description follows its role in the component rather than becoming a service list artificially inserted into alternative text.
The page is then checked in context: text contrast, cropping, links and reading order. An image must not push useful explanation behind a sequence of decorative blocks. If a native diagram explains a process better than a photomontage, we choose the diagram. Visuals should reduce the effort needed to understand and support the correct message.
Frequently asked questions about AI images for business
Can a generated image replace every photograph?
Purpose determines the choice. A concept can be illustrated synthetically, but presenting actual premises, products or results needs material matching that subject. The public description must preserve this distinction.
Is requesting “the same style” sufficient?
A coherent set has explicit references: palette, light, framing and authorised source material. Every variant is compared against these criteria. A general phrase does not replace checking the output.
Can all page text be placed inside an image?
Functional headlines and buttons stay in HTML when they need reading, translation and access. For social exports containing embedded text, legibility and content are separately checked at publication size.
Does a checkerboard mean transparency?
No. Transparency is a file property checked through its alpha channel and display on different backgrounds. A checkerboard drawing remains part of the image and does not behave as a transparent background.
Does WebP automatically mean maximum performance?
Format is one part of delivery. Suitable dimensions, compression, loading and the rest of the page matter. The score is measured on the complete page, not inferred from the filename extension.
Should version records be retained?
Yes. We retain originals, authorised inputs, approved versions and intended use. This record helps the team identify the correct asset and check what changes during an update.
A visual workflow connected to the page objective
A good image is relevant, coherent and prepared for its placement. In an online promotion plan, WebHat connects visuals to the message, destination and deliverable checks. Briefing, editing and optimisation share an objective: a page that is easier to understand, without false representations or resources added solely for decoration.
