Meta presented new moderation, writing and coordination tools on October 23 for Facebook group administrators using Forum. The update includes AI-assisted checks of pending posts, more flexible automated rules and a shared team calendar. Forum is available in the United States on iOS and Android, with users signing in through their Facebook account.

The app brings together a user's existing groups and keeps them synchronized with Facebook. Meta began testing Forum in May and described features for discovering conversations and recognizing members' contributions in September. The October announcement focuses on administration: reviewing content, organizing moderators and planning posts for the community across the people managing it.

Posts assessed against the group's own rules

Admin AI, the management tool built into Forum, helps triage membership requests and posts awaiting approval. The system suggests possible next actions and highlights subjects members are discussing, things working well and issues needing attention. This information is presented to the administrator in the context of the group's activity and pending work.

The new capability checks pending posts against the rules set by the community's administrators. Each post receives a tag indicating whether it appears to meet those rules or may conflict with them. Tags appear both in the pending-post queue and in Admin AI to support the administrator's approval decision. The assessment is specific to the rules that group has established.

Administrators remain in control of the content their group accepts. Meta separately states that all posts are subject to its Community Standards. Within this mechanism, the tool's suggestion, the group's local rules and the platform's general requirements represent distinct layers of the same moderation activity. The tag provides the assessment described by Meta within that process.

Admin Assist, the automated moderation component, gains the ability to combine several conditions within a custom rule. Meta's examples include post length, link usage and previous moderation actions. Administrators configure these combinations for their community, while Admin AI provides the assessments and suggestions described for items awaiting review. The update therefore covers both tools and their different functions.

AI-assisted drafts and a calendar for the whole team

Admin AI can now draft posts for an administrator. The text can be reviewed and edited, with publication taking place when the administrator decides it is ready. The capability adds writing to the existing tools for analyzing community activity and identifying subjects being discussed, keeping the administrator involved in preparing the content before it reaches members.

Meta also announces the use of Admin AI to help draft and schedule up to five posts in one operation. The number refers to grouping those posts into a batch. It is a capability of the preparation and scheduling workflow described in the announcement, separate from a daily publication limit for the group or its administrator's account.

The shared calendar shows posts the team has already scheduled. Administrators and moderators can therefore work from the same view of planned content. According to Meta, the capability responds to requests for better coordination among people managing a community together, helping them avoid preparing the same material in parallel or overlooking posts between their periods of activity.

Another feature allows an administrator to pin a comment that deserves additional visibility. An answer, correction or clarification can be highlighted in the relevant discussion. The tool concerns the organization of comments within the community, complementing the post-approval and scheduling capabilities presented in the same update to the Forum application and its administrative workspace.

Insights tailored to a community's stage of development

Meta is introducing group insights organized around the community's current stage: new, growing or well established. They highlight the next areas on which an administrator can act at that stage. The insights appear both within the group and in Admin Home, Forum's administration area, bringing this information into the spaces where administrators manage the community.

Admin Home also becomes the place where administrators receive regular information about new Facebook group features. Updates are collected in the same space as the community's working tools. According to Meta, this responds to administrators' requests for an easier way to follow product changes and recently introduced capabilities for the groups they manage.

Building on the discovery features presented in September

Within Forum, the Ask component uses AI to highlight existing posts and comments in groups. It can surface conversations from communities the user already belongs to, as well as public groups they have not joined. A user can then move directly from the result shown by Ask into the relevant discussion and its members' contributions.

In its September announcement, Meta described tests of comparisons based on members' recommendations and suggested questions informed by recent searches. It also presented topic labels on posts for exploring other conversations about the same subject. These features provide the discovery context to which the company is now adding its new administrator tools and coordination capabilities.

A separate test announced in September concerns a role recognizing valuable contributions. It replaces the previous contributor badges and group expert role. Meta describes contributions such as answering questions, sharing firsthand experiences, offering practical tips and making recommendations useful to members. The role brings a new badge and benefits including faster publication of posts, under the same Community Standards. Recognition is tied to the quality of participation and the value added to discussions.

Administrators can grant this role directly, Meta can nominate members, and selected people are notified and can remove themselves. The company specified Forum in the US and Facebook globally for that test. Availability of the Forum application in the October update remains the stated United States availability.
